Who authorised this? They should without a doubt be fired and burnt at a stake. Though it picked up a little later on, this was a generally dreadful performance of the book. The reader had a range of three tones, and never used more than two in the same paragraph. That aside, Goodkind's stories are good enough and one can ignore some of the more excruciating prose. The story was great, but the narration of Jim Bond was the worst I have ever heard for a long time After awhile I was able to tune hine out and focus on the story Although I read these books years ago, they left such a good impression on me that I decided to re-visit them with the audible versions.
The story so far part 1 and 2 is as good as I remembered it to be. The world crafted lovingly and the characters behaving realistically, albeit annoyingly at times said with a smile on my face.
However, it is most unfortunate that the narrator was changed from the first book I seem to recall his surname was something like Tsoutsuvas - apologies if I've misremembered his name as this one, Jim Bond, is so patronizing. He reads this as if he is reading to a group of 5 year olds and his inflection denoting emotions is completely off. It's as if he does not think highly of the book itself, so is trying to belittle it and is therefore simply narrating for the income.
I will most likely continue with subsequent books in this series, even if Jim Bond continues to be the narrator because I like the story so much, but I will avoid any future books another series or stand-alone if he is the narrator.
Not the easiest to listen to. Jim bond's narration is excellent, only wish he had done all in the series. Do live these books. Gratch is a wonderful creature. I do wish that they would make this into a long running series on Netflix!!!!
Loved this second book. A gripping story about good and evil i a magical time. Great narration by Jim Bond. Look forward to more stories by Terry Goodkimd. The narrator is great when it comes to narrating the story but as soon as he voices a character is so monotonous and bland. I'm really enjoying this series can't wait to continue.
So all in all I am very happy that I suck with it. Add to Cart failed. Please try again later. Add to Wish List failed. Remove from wishlist failed. Adding to library failed. Please try again.

Bo Laughlin Great Book - Almost ruined by the narrator I have never written a review before, but I have been listening to books since before Audible was hatched. Christina The Journy Ends Here Because there is no way, I can put up with this narrator for a moment longer, and that is a first for me. Uncle Cresty RooKitty Jim Bond!
Good Narration Makes All the Difference I was so eager to continue with the series that I immediately downloaded the second book. Jesi Good read, bad listen The story is very well written but horribly read. Jennise I really should have checked the reviews first Ronald H. Mers Peter Johnathan See Spot Run is the feeling that I get.
Show More. Andrew Cochrane Jez Cajiao This is a brilliant book, the strongest in the series in my opinion, but the only person to enjoy this narration would be someone addicted to text-talk handsets How did the narrator detract from the book?
If you want an example of excellent narration try the Wheel of Time series, the narrators bring characters to life, this reading sadly was more of the nail in the coffin of the Sword of Truth series 15 people found this helpful.
Scott The narrator put me off. Dobs Totev Disgusting robotic aweful narrator It's such a shame that this amazing story is ruined by a narrator who is so bad, robotic and incapable in changing his voice into the different character personality. R Awful narration!! Not worth one star! Rob Sam Edwards David Nigel Hillyer Great Story, not the best delivery.
Rachel Excellent second book This was a really good follow up to the first one in the series. Amazon Customer Can't listen to this. Horrible, horrible narration Jim Bond has the voice of a robot. Stephen Darragh Good story, poor performance Though it picked up a little later on, this was a generally dreadful performance of the book.

Delaware County District Library Ohio. Scanned in China. American Libraries. Stone of Tears. It took determination to get through this book simply because of the narrator. Very good story and full of suspense and great moments. A lot of hard time to the heroes also! Finished book one so so so excited to jump into the second.
All my hopes and dreams crashed and burned once i heard this narrators voice Never read a book in my life other than ones i had to for school. But after this i think ill go buy the hard copy cuz for as bad as i want listen to it i cant with this guy.
Gonna choose to go pick up a book and read for the first time in my life. The dude read the book like a robot. It detracted from the book for me. Please, republish this brilliant book with another narrator!!
I see some people blaming the narrator giving his best work on a this book. This book is not without so many flaws. The plot does not really get started until Richard gets to the Palace. In so many ways, the story feels like it is treading water until we see that magic school life. For those that love magic schools but dislike Harry Potter, this can be a good alternative, but so would the Poppy Wars and without a doubt, The Name of the Wind.
There's so many beat in here that are somewhat repetitive of the previous installment. As such, any fan should be warned about that. These are some of Goodkind's larger works, but by no means is it more dense. There is some wonderful setup for later installments that will be useful but for me, this is a fond memory, but a reread can be a little rough as there are parts that are definitely worth skipping.
